LET US STAND FOR NANAKSHAHI CALENDER

Do you know that the present Bikrami calender (which is applicable in Punjab as far as festival dates are concerned) has some very serious defects:

  • Gurpurabs i.e Guru's days at times fall twice in a year and in some year there is no particular gurpurab at all. Thanks to Bikrami Calender.
  • This year the birthday of Guru Gobind Singh sahib is falling on Dec. 28 i.e when the Sikhs will be mourning the martyrdom of Chhota sahibzadas
  • In the year 2015 there will be no Gurpurab of Tenth Lord.
  • It is such a ridiculous calender that the often months with 32 days occur.
  • Some times the year is of 13 months.
  • Its years are slowly slipping forwards with the result that the Vaisakhi of 1699 fell on March 27 but now a days Vaisakhi comes either on 13, 14 or 15 April.
  • So much after thousands of years the month of Poh which is famous for its winter will fall in the month of May and June. Thus all literature and Gurbani which has reference to seasons will become irrelevant.
  • The present Bikrami calender's year is longer by 20 minutess
In the light of above Pal Singh Purewal of Canada devised a scientific solar calender and the SGPC implemented it in the year 2003 but unfortunately some conservative people had been opposing it. The final blow was given by Dam Dami Taksal when its head Harnam Singh Dhuma agreed to support the Saint Union opposing the new calender. As such an amended Bikrami calender with the misleading name Nanakshahi was imposed. Since the present scenario has embarrassed the Sant Union as such again a demand for Nanakshahi calender has arisen.

We ask the reader to read the facts and support the demand for Nanakshahi calender.
Here are some links giving pros and cons of Nanakshahi Calender:-

You will regret to note that the opponents of Nanakshahi calendar are such people who believe  Sikhism an off shoot of Hinduism. Instead of pointing some defect in the new calendar they do maneuvering. Since Sant J.S. Bhinderanwale was a staunch votary of independence of Sikhism, the calendar opponent bought Harnam Singh Dhuma the successor of Sant Bhinderanwale and deputed him to P.S.Badal to oppose the calendar with the plea that the calendar creates rift between Sikhs and Hindus. This shows Sikhs have no right even to rectify any of their systems.

MUSTAPHA VISITS KARTARPUR SAHIB
My Facebook friend from Pakistan has visited Kartarpur sahib the holy shrine where Guru Nanak passed away. Kartarpur is close to Indo-Pakistan borber and is visible from Indian side. Sikhs are demanding a visa-free passage to Kartarpur sahib. Indian Punjab's legislative Assembly has unanimously passed a resolution seeking corridor. The Delhi Govt (as usual) is delaying the approval of corridor.
Mustapha has sent some beautiful photos of Kartarpur which we share with our friends. Mustapha takes pride in sending me some pixels where the soldiers from Bloch Regiment of Pakistan are paying obeisance to last abode of Guru Nanak.
It is first time we share the photo of bomb Indian Air Force dropped on Kartarpur sahib. The Pakistan authorities have preserved the bomb and is on display at Kartarpur sahib. We have already shared the demolition of Kartarpur Bridge over the river Ravi which was bombarded by Indian Army. Here we also come across view of SGGS darbar where RSS goons have done mischief.

MODI PRAISES SIRSA DERA FOR VOTES - MYTH OF "SWACHH BHARAT" EXPLODES IN ELECTIONS

MODI PRAISES SIRSA DERA  FOR VOTES - MYTH OF "SWACHH BHARAT" EXPLODES IN ELECTIONS

Prime Minister Narender Modi has shown his utmost desperation in wining Haryana elections. He knows fully well that Sirsa dera head Gurmit Ram Rahim is neck deep drowned in criminal cases of about half a dozen murders, rapes and making impotent a horde of devotee sadhus. Modi approached the dera for help in elections and what else the head would need, he showed extreme eagerness to help the ruling BJP.
We feel this is sufficient to prove how Modi's slogan of 'Swachh Bharat' the Clean India is hollow. It becomes clear that the slogan was given only to counter the growth of Aam Aadmi Party.

Though today the Dera Head had issued a statement that he is non-committal on support to BJP but the statement is more confusing while the earlier statement for support was unambiguous.

Modi praises dera, avoids naming controversial chief

Sirsa, October 11
Sirsa-based Dera Sacha Sauda may throw its weight behind the BJP for the Assembly poll going by developments during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally today.

Modi started his speech with an account of his previous visits to Sirsa at the time of the Dabwali fire tragedy and to seek the blessings of Dera Sacha Sauda. Hundreds of dera followers seated in a particular section of the pandal responded with thunderous applause. Modi went on to speak about the efforts of the dera to clean cities and praised the organisation amid even louder claps.

Modi’s praise comes close on the heels of visits to the dera by Union External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and party’s state campaign in charge Kailash Vijayvargiya earlier this week. Recently, dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh had praised the PM’s sanitation drive and said that he was doing “amazing things” for the country.

Interestingly, when Modi spoke about the dera, he referred to Shah Mastana, the sect’s first head, and did not mention present chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, who is facing criminal trials before the CBI court.

Sirsa Dera

However, Modi’s reference to the dera is considered a significant development, as senior leaders, including CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda, have never referred to the dera in his speeches, ostensibly because of the controversies as well as the backlash it can attract from Sikhs. A source said the dera yesterday told followers to reach in Modi’s rally in large numbers.

The Dera has been impacting polling trends in the area since the mid-nineties after Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh took over. While its followers are spread across almost all segments, the religious sect is said to influence results in nearly 45 constituencies. It is due to these numbers that political leaders have been making a beeline at the dera ahead of the poll.

Those who follow the dera’s moves closely say the Assembly poll is more important for the sect than ever before. The Congress, which benefitted from its decisions in the past 10 years, seems in doldrums after the Lok Sabha result.

Dera Sacha Sauda spokesperson Pawan Insan, however, expressed ignorance of any directive to the dera followers. Regarding possibilities of backing the BJP, Insan said only the dera’s political wing could take a decision in the regard. “The managers of the political affairs wing are in the process of finalising their strategy for the poll,” he said.

BJP gets Dera Sacha Sauda’s support  Political affairs wing says the dera can influence voters in 60 seats in 90-member House

Sirsa, October 13
Sirsa-based Dera Sacha Sauda has extended support to the BJP on all 90 seats of the Haryana Assembly for October 15 elections.

Members of the political affairs wing of the dera today fanned out in all 90 Assembly segments of the state to convey their decision to dera followers.

The dera’s political affairs wing organised a religious congregation near the Sirsa Municipal Council office this morning and decided to support the BJP candidate from Sirsa Sunita Setia. She was invited to the congregation.

Soon, reports came from Ellenabad, Rania, Dabwali and Kalanwali, where the dera wing extended its support to Pawan Beniwal, Jagdish Nehra, Dev Kumar and Rajinder Desujodha.

In Fatehabad also, the dera announced its support to BJP nominees Swatantar Bala Chaudhary, Sunita Duggal (Ratia) and Subhash Barala (Tohana). “We have taken the decision to support the BJP on all the 90 seats of Haryana to end corruption and ensure development in the state. When people across the country are looking towards the BJP to bring a change in governance, dera followers cannot remain aloof,” said Jasbir Singh, a spokesperson of the political affairs wing of the dera.

“We supported the Congress in the 2009 Assembly elections, but the Bhupinder Singh Hooda government was a disappointment. The government failed to check corruption, which was at an all-time high during the past five years. The development was also limited to a particular area,” Jasbir Singh alleged.

He said the decision to support the BJP has been taken to ensure all-round development of the state. The dera has 60 lakh followers in Haryana that comprises nearly 45 lakh voters, he said.

Jasbir Singh said dera followers can influence the election result in at least 60 segments.

Sirsa, Fatehabad, Kaithal, Kurukshetra, Karnal, Panipat, Jind, Ambala, Sonipat, Bhiwani and Hisar districts are considered strongholds of the dera. The drea followers’ concentration is thin in districts close to the NCR such as Faridabad, Palwal, Mewat and Gurgaon.

The dera’s decision two days ahead of the polling is significant for the BJP, which is aspiring to form the next government on its own in Haryana. It is a setback to the Congress which had been the beneficiary of the dera’s vote bank for the past 10 years.

HINDU CHAUVINISM IS THERE WHERE IT WAS 1000 YEARS AGO (AL BIRUNI)

HINDU CHAUVINISM IS THERE WHERE IT WAS 1000 YEARS AGO (AL BIRUNI)

On Facebook we often read comments. "It is an Indian who invented Facebook." "Of the total No. of scientists in USA 30% are Indians." "We Indians are the first to develop satellites and space technology." "Our seers in the Vedic period new flying." "The scientific knowledge was originally developed in India, the West stole from us."
Unfortunately this false patriotism or pride or chauvinism is not restricted only to internet communications but this kind of lesson is even given in school text books also. So do u think if a child is taught falsehood would in any position be able to compete with foreign scholar?
Today I am really surprised to read that even the 10 C. famous traveler and astronomer   Al Beruni holds the same opinion of the Indians about their false pride. Read in original:-

"In the fifth place, there are other causes, the mentioning of which sounds like a satire—peculiarities of their national character, deeply rooted in them, but manifest to everybody. We can only say, folly is an illness for which there is no medicine, and the Hindus believe that there is no country but theirs, no nation like theirs, no kings like theirs, no religion like theirs, no science like theirs. They are haughty, foolishly vain, self-conceited and stolid. They are by nature niggardly in communicating that which they know, and they take the greatest possible care to withhold it from men of another caste among their own people, still much more, of course, from any foreigner. Their haughtiness is such that, if you tell them of any science or scholar in Khorasan and Persis, they will think you to be both an ignoramus and a liar.

If they traveled and mixed with other nations, they would soon change their mind, for their ancestors were not as narrow-minded as the present generation is. One of their scholars, Varahamihira, in a passage where he calls on the people to honour the Brahmans, says : “ The Greeks, though impure, must he honoured, since they were trained in sciences, and therein excelled others. What, then, are we to say of a Brahman, if he combines with his purity the height of science ? ” In former times, the Hindus used to acknowledge that the progress of science due to the Greeks is much more important than that which is due to themselves.

But from this passage of Varâhamihira alone you see what a self-lauding man he is, whilst he gives himself airs as doing justice to others. At first I stood to their astronomers in the relation of a pupil to his master, being a stranger among them and not acquainted with their peculiar national and traditional methods of science. On having made some progress, I began to show them the elements on which this science rests, to point out to them some rules of logical deduction and the scientific methods of all mathematics, and then they flocked together round me from all parts, wondering, and most eager to learn from me, asking me at the same time from what Hindu master I had learnt those things, whilst in reality I showed them what they were worth, and thought myself a great deal superior to them, disdaining to be put on a level with them. They almost thought me to be a sorcerer, and when speaking of me to is sweet. Fifth reason: The self conceit"

BBC REPORTS POISONING OF PUNJAB

Thursday, 25 September 2014

Punjab is being poisoned at a massive scale. Internationally banned pesticides are being allowed in Punjab. The youth of Punjab is getting sterile due to consumption of vegetables are fruits grown with dangerous pesticides. The incidence of cancer in southern districts in Punjab is highest in the world. Cancer has become a story of every house hold. So much so a train being run to Bikaner is called Cancer Train because it mostly carries cancer patients to a cancer specialist hospital in Bikaner.

Fortunately today the 25-9-14 BBC World Television channel has highlighted the plight of Punjab. Ha ha! When a Govt official was asked his reaction he was infuriated at this and said it is a Western propaganda.

Sorry I missed to record some initial portion of the news item.
