The supercop Mr. K.P.S. Gill who overstayed in
his residence even after his retirement, made personal telephone calls
amounting to Rs."10 lakh. The concerned departments are in a fix how to
recover this huge ' amount. Mr. Gill who has been convicted in the Rupan Deol -
Bajaj case made several telephonic calls to his overseas friends and relatives Presently
on bail he made frantic efforts for governorship of J & K, Special Secretary
(Security) in the ministry of Horne
Affairs and Advisor (Security) Assam Govt.; even after his conviction, when
there were hints in the newspapers that he was likely to be accommodated and re-employed.
Thus responsibility is being fixed on the
officials who cleared Gill's post retirement bills. Otherwise a brave officer,
who has some dictatorial traits in his character, was once a contestant of
Punjab Assembly elections, but perhaps abandoned the idea in view of the hopes
of his future accommodations / re absorption in the administration of Punjab
Govt. Gillwho is known for his love for three ' W's', was once the most powerful
bureaucrat in Punjab who would hardly bother about even Beant Singh, the then
CM: There are also rumours that Gill might be accomodated in the BJP, but for
the Akalis opposition.
